Welcome to In her shoes

Welcome to In her shoes, a project I initially formed as a college assignment and have continued to watch grow into a movement. I am now working to submit this as an Honors project so I hope you will join me in my mission to add value to women's lives through empowered storytelling. Why should we share our stories and what is empowered storytelling? Sharing stories connects us and builds our support system. It takes a village to support a woman so thank YOU for being a part of mine just by being here and reading this now. It took me a very long time to tell an empowered story about my own experiences and now, I'd like to help other women do the same. Why? Because HOW we tell our stories determines our resilience, self esteem, beliefs and ultimately our trajectory. There is a way to tell your story and honor all that you have been through without dishonoring yourself. The goal is to acknowledge and celebrate YOU as the hero of your own story. I waited most of my life for someone to save me from all the things that had been placed in my path; and then I realized the hero was ME all along. About the project founder:

Elizabeth Storey is earning a BA at the University of Michigan

with a major in Sociology and Social Work sub plan and a minor in Gender and Health. She has been accepted to the School of Social Work where she plans to earn an MSW and dedicate her career to serving women's issues.
